SCAR Kicks Off Summer at The Masters Academy End of Year Party

There’s something special about the last day of school. The backpacks get tossed aside, summer plans start coming together, and everyone is ready to celebrate. This year, Seminole County Area Rowing had the opportunity to be part of The Masters Academy End of Year Party, and it turned out to be one of those events that perfectly captured the energy and excitement of summer beginning.
Sponsored by Boltz Legal, the event was packed with activities, music, food, games, and local businesses all coming together to create a fun afternoon for families and students.
Our SCAR athletes spent the evening helping lead games, encouraging kids during relay races, and introducing attendees to rowing on the Concept2 RowErg. For many students, it was their very first time trying rowing, and it was fun watching them figure out the rhythm and challenge each other on the erg machines. We also had the chance to talk with families about our upcoming summer rowing camps and share what makes rowing such a unique sport for middle and high school athletes.
One of the most meaningful parts of the day came from Michael Byrne with Learn CPR Central Florida. Michael went booth to booth and spoke directly with attendees to make sure people knew the basics of CPR and what to do in an emergency situation. While this was not a certification course, families walked away with practical, life-saving knowledge, including how to perform chest compressions, use an AED/defibrillator for adults and children, and perform the Heimlich maneuver. It was incredible to see so many people stop, learn, ask questions, and gain confidence in skills that could truly save a life someday.

The event itself was incredibly well organized thanks to Boltz Legal. Between the live DJ, water balloon fights, relay races, and frozen treats, there was never a dull moment. Kids cooled off with shaved ice from Snowie Shaved Ice and enjoyed ice cream from Kelly's Ice Cream while families explored booths from other local businesses and organizations.
It was also great seeing so many community partners involved, including Chick-fil-A, Medical Acupuncture, YMCA, KC Beauty Lounge, and World Class Taekwondo. Events like this are a reminder of how strong and connected our local community really is.
By the end of the afternoon, kids were soaked from water games, dancing to music, carrying cups of shaved ice, and already fully in summer mode. For SCAR, it was a great opportunity to connect with families, introduce more students to rowing, and spend time serving our community alongside so many wonderful local organizations.
All in all, it was the perfect way to kick off summer.
